Biography

Rachel Heisman is a certified nurse midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. She received an undergraduate degree in English from Hillsdale College in 2009 and her nursing degree from Loyola University
Chicago in 2010. She completed graduate studies at Georgetown University and graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Science degree in nurse midwifery and women’s health in 2016. Prior to joining Dignity in the fall of 2017, she worked as a staff midwife at a nationally accredited birth center in Austin, TX.

As a midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner, Rachel is able to provide care for women from adolescence and into menopause. She’s excited to collaborate with Dr. Steven Pilkington in providing compassionate and
empathetic care to women of all ages. She strongly believes in the Ignatian-Jesuit principle of providing care for the whole person “cura personalis” and in working *with* women to improve their overall health, so they in turn can positively impact the health of their families and society. She’s also a passionate advocate for fertility awareness methods and is currently pursuing certification as a Marquette Method healthcare provider.

Not originally from Texas, Rachel enjoys spending her leisure time exploring the Texas Hill Country and is now happy to call New Braunfels her home. She and her husband Sam have been married for ten years and have three sons and two daughters.
